Things you learned: What XXXIX is in Roman numerals

It had to happen one of these times. I ran out of things to sing about. So this song is about the fact that it is 39th. Don’t you love when songs are so self-referential? And at the end of course, I whistle. When there’s time for whistling. . . there’s a lot of time in a song. When there’s time to spell out a number in Roman numerals, there’s a lot of time in a song. Who would ever think that it would be hard to fill a minute? I’ve actually started getting some ringtones published and those things are 30 seconds or less. Since then, a power hour song feels like a pretty hefty duration. And a radio-length song is eternity!

Of course my audience in the video doesn’t seem to care that I had to stretch for material. Or maybe they’re mad, thinking my lyrical content isn’t compelling enough and that’s why they’re launching glow sticks at me.

Lyrics:
It’s the 39th song
Why don’t you sing along?
It’s the 39th song
Why don’t you sing along?

Choosing this number was arbitrary
Marking this spot is not necessary

It’s the 39th song
Why don’t you sing along?

There’s 38 behind and 21 left until I’m out
But I had to fill some space so here’s what this song’s about

It’s the 39th song
Why don’t you sing along?

In case you wondered it’s XXXIX in Roman numerals
And by now you can tell I’m really stretching for material

It’s the 39th song
Why don’t you sing along?
It’s what? It’s the 39th song
Why don’t you sing along?
